World of Wool….

Here at The Lounging Hound, we LOVE everything about WOOL!  Find out why….

It’s 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. It’s inherently dirt resistant and odour repellent. It keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. It’s comfortable and it’s beautiful. Can you tell we’re wild about wool?  All our pure wool products carry the prestigious Woolmark logo. Find out more at the Woolmark Company website.

Good for Pets….

Not surprisingly, The Lounging Hound owner Natalie is a huge fan of wool. “I think some people are put off wool because they think of it as a fabric that is hard to clean and uncomfortable for pets,” she says. “But that’s not the case at all. It’s really easy to care for – mostly machine washable, super-soft, durable and great for pets as it keeps them warm or cool depending on the season”.

Our Suppliers….

The fabric used in The Lounging Hound’s pure wool products is supplied by two of the oldest wool mills in Britain. Hainsworth, who makes the wool for our plain throws and toy bones, has been weaving wool since 1783 and has the widest looms left in the country. Abraham Moon, established in 1837 and one of the UK’s last remaining vertical wool mills, produces the fabric for our multispot cushions and waterproof throws.

Quirky Products….

We love our wool Door Stoppers and Draught Excluders, but if you’re after something even quirkier, how about this fabulous Fox Terrier from Cox & Cox, beautifully handmade from 100% felted wool.

Wool Week….

A whole two weeks dedicated to the wonders of wool? Who knew! Wool Week takes place every year in October with a varied programme of events, exhibitions, activities and initiatives designed to educate, inspire and promote the benefits of wool. More info from The Campaign For Wool.

Knit It Out….

And finally, don’t forget about good old fashioned knitting. Once you get the hang of it, knitting has amazing health benefits – aiding relaxation, lowering blood pressure and improving motor functions. This brilliant book by Debbie Humphreys at Redhound For Dogs has some gorgeous patterns to get your hound feeling cosy and looking cool.
