The Lounging Hound on choosing the right dog bed

To celebrate the launch of our new floral mattress beds, we’ll help you find the perfect dog bed for your lounging hound

Hounds love to lounge. It’s a fact. They spend an average of 12-14 hours a day sleeping (lucky things) so it’s important to choose the right bed for them. And if you can find one that’s also a stylish addition to your home, even better. That’s where we come in…

Floral mattress dog bed

Big hound, small hound

Consider your dog’s size and weight. Chihuahuas have very different requirements to Great Danes. Our soft beds come in three sizes that are perfect for most small to medium sized hounds. Larger, heavier dogs will require a sturdier, more durable bed though – take a look at our brand new floral mattresses. Made of memory foam, they’re soft but firm, providing support that reduces pressure on your dog’s joints and muscles – also fantastic for older or poorly dogs.

Twist soft dog bed

Stretch out or curl up?

Have you got a sprawler or a snuggler? Hounds that love to stretch out need plenty of space so beds without sides work best – also ideal for those that like to wriggle around in their sleep (dreaming of zoomies?). If your pooch prefers curling up, our rattan beds or soft cushion beds are comfy and snug.

Travel dog bed roll

Have dog, will travel

Our bed rolls are basically smaller versions of our sofa toppers – soft, stylish and durable. They make a cosy spot for the floor, and when you go on holiday they can be rolled up and taken with you. We have it on good authority that they also make brilliant floor mats for dogs in pubs. Cheers!

Rattan dog bed

Stay cool, be cosy

Lots of our products are made of high quality pure wool that helps keep your dog cool in the summer and warm in the winter. And our rattan beds are raised from the floor, offering extra ventilation in the summer. Equally, if your dog sleeps in a room with a non-carpeted floor, a raised bed will also ensure they’re not cold during winter.

Maintenance and durability

No matter what type of dog you have, his bed is going to get grubby and probably a bit smelly. Durable, easy-to-clean fabric is essential. All our products are designed to be wipe-clean (yes, even the velvet). Regular vacuuming and spot cleaning will keep them looking lovely day-to-day. And for those occasions when the mud (or fox poo) gets too much, all our products can be washed – carefully! – on a gentle machine cycle.

Waterproof throw dog bed

Hounds that think they’re human

Our sofa toppers were developed specifically for hounds that love to lounge on human furniture. They’re cosy enough for snugglers and large enough for sprawlers – as long as you don’t mind giving up your space on the sofa.

And if your dog insists on sleeping on your bed, treat yourself to a beautiful blanket to protect your bed linen. Our waterproof throws are soft but thick and very easy to keep clean.
