The Lounging Hound’s interiors trends

We love reading interiors magazines and checking out what’s hot in the world of stylish homes. So it’s especially gratifying when the trends are in line with our product range. From prints to colour schemes to fabrics, here are some of the trends that interiors experts are going mad for in 2019…

Conifer Travel RollVA-VA-VELVET

You might have noticed we’re having a love affair with velvet. Our Sofa Toppers, Mattress Beds, Pillow Beds and Travel Rolls are all available in this sumptuous, hard-wearing fabric. It might feel soft as a feather, but good quality velvet is also durable, naturally dirt-resistant and machine washable. It’s no wonder savvy interior designers are all over it. (By the way, dark, foresty greens are also trending right now – hello, Luxe Velvet Travel Roll in Conifer!)

Espresso Mattress BedBROWN IS BACK

The colour brown has been reinvented. As with so many trends, it went from unimaginably old-fashioned to ultra modern and is gaining in popularity all the time. Darker neutrals and warm, earthy tones sit beautifully alongside colourful upholstery, flooring or furniture. Meanwhile Dulux’s Colour of the Year is the amber-beige Spiced Honey, a shade that works perfectly with chocolatey browns. Get a little piece of this trend with a Velvet Mattress Bed in rich Espresso brown.

Rousseau Velvet Pillow BedTROPICAL PRINTS

If tropical prints make you think of pina coladas and Carmen Miranda, think again. The tropical trend is more about lush botanicals, zoological illustrations and a little bit of escapism. Keep it subtle(ish) by offsetting bold patterns with plain colours, or choosing individual feature items that embrace the exotic. Like, for example, one of the Velvet Pillow Beds in our new Animalia range. Just a suggestion…

Rose Sofa TopperPASTEL POWER

Billed as “the new neutrals” pastel colours have been fully embraced by interiors trend-spotters. Soft, ice-cream shades are perfect for relaxing spaces, and we love the way these subtle hues can catch the light. When our customers asked for a range of softer shades, we were only too happy to oblige. The new Luxe Velvet Sofa Toppers include Almond, Marble, Dusk and Rose – pictured here.

Online searches for black and navy blue kitchens have sky-rocketed as dark cabinets sit at the top of our kitchen wish lists. You may not want to replace your entire kitchen, but you can easily add a signature colour with soft furnishings. Our wool Sofa Toppers come in a deep Storm Blue while the velvet range includes the luscious Ink – also available as Scatter Cushions (pictured). Alternatively, if you’re feeling really enthusiastic, grab a paintbrush and some Farrow & Ball Hague Blue to give your existing doors a full makeover.
